The ingenue style essence

All seven of the style essences are defined by whether they are mature or youthful, feminine or masculine(or neutral). The ingenue essence is a youthful feminine essence. The ingenue essence reminds one of a little girl, it comes across as sweet and cute. The literal definition for Ingenue is "an innocent or unsophisticated young woman, especially in a play or film.". Innocent is definitely how, someone reads an ingenue essence. Cute, sweet, innocent, and "pretty" is what people usually use to describe the physical looks and demeanor of ingenue people.

Ingenue is feminine but is not sexy like the romantic essence or ageless like the ethereal essence. The style associated with the ingenue essence is like that of a "little girl", it's lines are defined by small, neat, and defined curves. Small flower prints, simple polka dots, scalloped prints and hems, frills, small curls etc are flattering on ingenues.

Marilyn Monroe was an romantic ingenue. She was viewed and marketed herself as a sexpot, and partially what made her so attractive to many (you can find this creepy or not) was the mixture of mature sexiness and her seeming innocence, naivete, and sweetness.

The ingenues look comfortable and normal in hair styles normally associated with young girls. Pigtails are a great example of this.

While Thandie Newton is flattered by this hairstyle, Margot Robbie looks too mature and bold for the pigtails. Margot has no ingenue essence(and is not very feminine or youthful looking) so ultra-feminine and youthful ingenue influenced clothing looks odd on her.

Compared to Thandie in similar style.

Here are some keywords and phrases for the ingenue: Petite, sweet, girlish, "little girl", cute, pure, wholesome, "adorable", saccharine, innocent.
